Fuel bugs inside your oil tank

Boiler performance is exposed to harmful microorganisms found in your oil tank. It is very common for fuel sludge to appear as it grows due to reactions from oxidation, condensation and heat. This causes sludge to form a sediment at the bottom of the storage tank.

It can become problematic, especially when your tank has low oil levels. Upon refilling, the sludge gets stirred up enough to get into the fuel filter, blocking flow and resulting in poor boiler efficiency. In some cases, poorly stored fuel can contribute to a potential system breakdown.
